• Adam Sanchez, Public Works Director, gave updates on the Starlight Road repair and last week’s issues with Kinetic rupturing several water lines while boring for the new fiber internet service. He also discussed the work beginning at the racetrack to reroute the sewer lines.
• Michael Martinez, Deputy Village Manager, provided updates on the Short-Term Rental public meeting held last week and discussed this week’s Lincoln County Day in Santa Fe. He also answered a listener’s question about the deadline for debris removal and gave updates on the progress and steps being taken for silt removal in the Upper Canyon.
• Fire Chief Cade Hall & Assistant Fire Chief Austin Meuli spoke about the upcoming prescribed burns scheduled by the Forest Service. They also addressed concerns about the increase in fire danger due to the unseasonably warm temperatures in the Village.
• Eric Queller, Emergency Manager, gave an update on the new warning sirens scheduled for delivery and installation by this summer.
• Eddie Ryan, Manager of Events & Strategic Partnerships, provided an update on the filming schedule for the new movie Dead Letters, which will begin on February 18th and last approximately three weeks.
• Matthew Baird, Parks & Recreation Director, announced that the Two Rivers Park rehabilitation will begin soon. Plans include replacing the bridge, playground, and fall protection damaged by last summer’s floods.
• Logan Flaherty, a Local Tattoo Artist from Scorpion Tattoo, discussed two upcoming Tattoo Expos they are hosting in Mescalero and the Ruidoso Convention Center.
• Police Chief Steve Minner and Lieutenant Jamie Urban updated that the Citizens Police Academy currently has 15 enrollees. The registration deadline is next Friday. They also discussed the process for hiring new officers, three of whom are currently in the hiring process.
