Michael Martinez, Deputy Village Manager, provided a recap of his visit to the FAA conference in Dallas, where he explored potential new funding avenues for the airport’s new master plan. He also gave an update on the 603 Mechem housing project, noting that water and sewer work is in progress, while fencing and landscaping are currently going out for bid.
Fire Chief Cade Hall discussed how and when fire levels are adjusted, emphasizing the critical role that relative humidity plays in these decisions. He also shared ideas and strategies for homeowners to help them prepare for the upcoming fire season.
Eric Queller, Emergency Manager, introduced PNM’s new Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) program, which considers humidity levels, fuel moisture, and high winds when determining whether power should be shut off. He also reminded residents that now is a great time to review their Ready, Set, Go plans and prepare for potential power outages and wildfires.
Adam Sanchez, Public Works Director, announced that the High Loop water improvement project is set to begin on Monday, March 10th. He also provided an update on the Starlite Rd project, including the expected duration of detours around the Paradise and Hull intersection.
Eddie Ryan, Manager of Events & Strategic Partnerships, gave an update on the filming of the new movie Dead Letters.
Tim Duckworth, Executive Director of the Ruidoso Midtown Association, spoke about how Midtown businesses are preparing to adjust their hours of operation in response to the upcoming large events in the Village.
Matthew Baird, Parks & Recreation Director, announced the upcoming Lifeguard training classes and provided an update on the progress of the new Disc Golf course behind Alto Lake.
Police Chief Steve Minner shared information about the Citizens Police Academy, which is set to begin this Thursday. He also discussed two bills currently scheduled for a vote in Santa Fe, one of which involves updates to the Body Camera law.
