Police Chief Chavis was in with detective Seth Carruth to discuss an injured free-roaming horse and what the police can do to help. The Mayor also did the official swearing-in of new Detective Matt Christian.

August 22, 2022: Show topics this week included Phase II of the Horton Complex project, the opening of the Screaming Eagle Mountain Coaster during Ride Ruidoso Week, September 12 - 18, 2022, and the recent GRT report and Excess Tax. The Mayor expressed his condolences for George (Trout Man) Schlemeyer, a beloved local resident and avid fisherman who passed away recently. Also discussed were area sports. Emergency Manager Danielle Coronado and Fire Chief Joe Kasuboski joined the show to discuss village flooding preparations and responses. Police Chief Lawrence Chavez was in the studio with information about school zone traffic patterns, stolen traffic signs, and speed study reports.

August 15, 2022: Show topics this week included infrastructure updates about the Paradise Canyon Paving Project and the NMDOT Mechem Drive surface maintenance beginning August 22, 2022. Also discussed was the retirement of Rodney Griego as Parks and Recreation Director and the search for his replacement and other village job opportunities. Chief Chavez was in the studio with information about new traffic patterns in school zones and ways the PD dispatch can communicate directly with the school district in case of an emergency.

Upcoming events discussed included the August 13-14, 2022, First Annual Sierra Blanca Pow Wow at the Ruidoso Convention Center and Downshift Brewing Company’s Midtown Oktoberfest on September 24, 2022, featuring stein-hoisting contests, German food, live music, and more. Local Musician/Promotor, Jhett Black joined the show to promote a September singer-songwriter night at Sacred Grounds, and Ruidoso Police Chief Chavez was in the studio with back-to-school traffic safety tips and parade safety precautions for the annual Aspen Fest parade and Festival on October 1-2, 2022.

September 27, 2021: Police Chief Lawrence Chavez joins the show this week to discuss AspenFest traffic flow ideas and adjustments and grant agreements with Homeland Security for structural work on Ruidoso bridges. The Village has put out a request for proposals for professional engineering services. Topics also discussed this week included the NM Outdoor Economics Conference for advancing economic development and opportunities connected to public lands, with a focus on trailheads, restrooms, and Leave No Trace. Also discussed was the second volume of the Village Insider newsletter, and plans for content expansion with help from the Ruidoso Midtown Association and the Ruidoso Valley Chamber of Commerce.
