Also discussed were Wingfield Park outdoor concerts at the Ride Ruidoso Spring Thunder benefit event (May 20), Brewdoso/Party in the Pines (June 17-18), and summer entertainment at Ruidoso Downs Race Track. Fire Chief Joe Kasuboski discussed the Red Flag Fire Weather Warning conditions, firepit permits, and the Lincoln County, NM, Declaration of Fire Emergency currently in effect.

January 9, 2023: This week, Adam Sanchez, the public works director for the Village of Ruidoso, visited the show to inform us of plans to improve Sudderth and Upper Canyon. Village Clerk Jini Turri shed light on the council meetings and streaming options available. Tim Roberts reported on the Wingfield House Heritage Center and Convention Center. Fire Chief Joe Kasuboski and forest director Dick Cooke discussed fire prevention and forestry thinning projects, while Judi Starkovich, finance director, talked about Village budgeting and GRT. Chief Lawrence Chavez outlined holiday police activities and the upcoming Citizens Police Academy.

The concert lineup was announced for the 2022 Ride Ruidoso Week, a motorcycle benefit event on September 12 -18, 2022, at Wingfield Park, in addition to expanded parking capacity for the Winter Park and Eagle Creek area. Ruidoso Police Chief Chavez was in the studio to discuss recent police activity and a 3rd Citizens’ Police Academy scheduled for September.

Guest Leroy Cockrell joined the show to discuss new OHV trails in the Hale Lake area. Parks and Recreation director Rodney Griego shared information about 2022 Ride Ruidoso Week, a motorcycle benefit event on September 12 -18, 2022, at Wingfield Park, and a new grant application for the White Mountain Recreation Complex Ruidoso Police Chief Chavez was in the studio to discuss recent police activity.

Fire Chief Kasuboski was in the studio to introduce the new Assistant Fire Chief Ross Coleman, the need for additional firefighters, and the return to Level 1 fire restrictions. Ruidoso Police Chief Chavez joined the show to discuss recent police activity, the White Mountain Drive speed study results, and an increase in catalytic convertors and gasoline theft.

Tim Keithley from the Ruidoso Downs Racetrack and Casino joined the show to discuss this past weekend’s Derby and Futurity races and summer events..Congressional candidate, Michelle Garcia Holmes, called in and Ruidoso Police Chief Chavez Police Chief was in to discuss RPD active shooter procedures and the continued need for new officers and dispatchers.

Also discussed was the June 7 Village Council Workshop Meeting regarding village workforce needs. County Commission Candidate Alice Velasquez telephoned in to discuss her campaign. Ruidoso Police Chief Chavez Police Chief joined the show to discuss the gun violence and the procedures and training that Ruidoso Police have in place for such events. George “The Trout Man” Schlemeyer was in the studio to discuss the success of the June 4 Grindstone Lake Youth Fishing Tournament as well as summer fishing tips and advice.

Also discussed were the upcoming Ruidoso Adventure Tours Sweepstakes, the NM Vax 2 the Max Sweepstakes and upcoming and continuing projects in the Village including the White Mountain Recreation area, Village Hall, Moon Mountain, Wingfield House, and more. Dr. Clayton Alred called in to discuss the High Mountain Youth Projects fundraiser with Café Rio to help with regional homeless youth, proper procedure for garage sales, and placement of signs, plus employee challenges for retailers and restaurants in the post-Covid era.

June 14, 2021: Fire Chief Cody Thetford joined the conversation this week to discuss the Ball Field Fire as well as other area fires. Dick Cook, Director of Forestry, was also in the studio to discuss defensible space and the thinning that was going on behind the Ball Fields on Ski Run Road. Deputy Police Chief Diron Hill of the Ruidoso Police Department was on hand to take the Oath of Office and with suggestions about social media and citizen involvement with the Police Department.
